Description
Yes, owner Tim O’Hearn did just start stocking sheets with a 1,020 thread count, but he tells his customers not to get hung up on such statistics. The quality of the cotton and the thickness of the yarn are important too, says O’Hearn, as is the jacquard, a pattern woven into some sheets that adds to their visual and tactile appeal. Although the prices of French Quarter’s luxury bedding lines—like Legna, made of Italian beechwood fiber but silky smooth (about $900 a set)—may cause some to balk, O’Hearn advocates a more European (and less Wal-Mart Nation) approach: Buy fewer items of the best quality you can afford. “Start with a pillowcase,” he suggests, knowing there’s a good chance you’ll return for a king-size set of sheets.
